On Thursday, November 21, the White House honored 10 connected educators—education leaders who creatively use technology to help kids learn—as “Champions of Change,” including classroom teachers, administrators, and one school librarian, blogger and SLJ columnist Carolyn Foote.
On Saturday, November 23, the Chicago Public Library celebrated families learning together with its 20th annual “Bookamania 2013: All Families, All Year,” a free, daylong children’s book festival engaging children in reading, learning, and play activities. The event also featured authors such as Mac Barnett, Kevin Henkes, and René Colato Laínez.
